The published GBP prices shown in this comparison run from £4.99 per premises per month for SFBB+ to £159 per month for Navitas Safety's Pro package. FoodDocs publishes its prices in dollars, so we have kept them in dollars. These are not equivalent products. Team limits, VAT, contract length, early-exit conditions, hardware and consultancy can change the real first-year cost and commitment more than the headline monthly number.
For a single-site kitchen that already has a food safety plan, the clearest comparison is usually between the software-only plans. If you need HACCP plan generation, allergen or rota tools, consultancy, or continuous temperature sensors, compare the relevant higher tier rather than treating every published figure as the same package.
The short answer
- Lowest published price: SFBB+ at £4.99 per premises per month, inclusive.
- Lowest plan with yearly billing published: food-safety.app at £69.99 per year.
- Published £19 plans: Lemon and Hubl Tall, with different feature sets and tax treatment.
- Broader operations tools: Leafe starts at £28 plus VAT and Trail Team at £38 on monthly billing.
- Global HACCP platform: FoodDocs Lite starts at $99 monthly or $79 per site per month with annual billing, excluding VAT. We have not converted it to pounds.
- Software plus support or sensors: Navitas Essential is £129 monthly on a standard 12-month term, with an early exit after three months. Pro is £159 monthly on a standard 24-month term, includes a hub and four monitoring pods, and has an early exit after six months. Both exits require 14 days' notice before the end of the relevant month.

This table uses each supplier's published billing unit. It does not convert dollars, add VAT where a page is silent, or assume a discount that the supplier has not published.
How to read the headline prices
Per site, per premises and per venue usually mean the same cost driver
Most suppliers charge for each operating location. Ten sites usually means ten subscriptions, even when one manager oversees them. Ask how seasonal closures, test kitchens and central production units are counted before multiplying the monthly price.
The cheapest plan may have the wrong team limit
Leafe Basic is a solo account. Its £28 published price is not the right comparison for a kitchen that needs five staff logins. Leafe Standard starts at £68 plus VAT for up to five team members, while Pro starts at £119 plus VAT with unlimited members. Trail, Hubl and Lemon include unlimited users in their published plans. FoodDocs also lists unlimited users.
A monthly price can still carry an annual commitment
Trail's Team plan can be billed monthly at £38 per site, but the supplier states that every plan has a 12-month minimum term. Navitas publishes standard terms of 12 months for Essential and 24 months for Pro, but it also publishes early exits after three and six months respectively. Each requires 14 days' notice before the end of that month. Hubl's Tall, Grande and Venti plans are monthly rolling, while Venti Plus has a 12-month contract. Billing frequency, standard term and early-exit conditions are separate questions.
Hardware changes what you are buying
Most plans in the table record checks completed by a person using a phone, tablet or browser. Navitas Pro includes a gateway hub and four smart pods for automated fridge and freezer monitoring. That makes its £159 price a software, hardware and support package, not a direct substitute for a £19 manual record app. Navitas Essential does not include that temperature hardware.
What the published prices cover
SFBB+ and food-safety.app
These are the two lowest public prices in pounds. SFBB+ closely follows the Safer Food, Better Business record format and publishes a 90-day no-payment-details trial. food-safety.app publishes monthly and annual plans for digital records, PDF exports, custom checks, staff management, cleaning records and equipment temperature controls. Check that the workflow and platform fit your team before choosing on price alone.
Lemon and Hubl
Lemon and Hubl Tall both publish a £19 monthly price, but Hubl's price excludes VAT. Lemon includes temperature, food, delivery and checklist records, tracked issues, PDF exports and unlimited team members at one price. Hubl Tall includes unlimited users and its core checks. Full checklist customisation starts on Hubl Grande at £32 per site per month excluding VAT. Venti and Venti Plus add wider management and consultancy services.
Leafe and Trail
Leafe adds adjacent kitchen operations such as menu, inventory and rota tools as you move through its tiers. Trail is a browser-based operations platform that extends beyond food safety into tasks, audits and reporting. Trail's public page says no vendor hardware is required and that it has an offline mode for unreliable connections. Lemon does not offer durable offline recording.
FoodDocs
FoodDocs Lite covers monitoring. Its Standard tier, published at $199 monthly or $167 per site per month with annual billing, adds HACCP plan creation, recipes and allergen information. If HACCP plan generation is the reason you are buying, compare Standard rather than the $99 Lite price. Keep the quote in dollars when budgeting until your payment provider confirms the actual GBP charge and any foreign exchange fee.
Navitas Safety
Navitas bundles software with onboarding, support, an on-site assessment and training. Pro also includes continuous temperature monitoring hardware. The full standard-term totals are £1,548 for 12 months of Essential and £3,816 for 24 months of Pro, before any extras the order adds. Those totals describe the full standard terms, not the shortest available payment periods: the supplier also permits Essential customers to exit after three months and Pro customers after six months, with 14 days' notice before the end of the relevant month.
A five-minute buying-cost check
Use this before booking demos. Put the supplier's answer beside each line, then compare totals with the same number of sites and users.
- Subscription: sites multiplied by the published price and the period you are comparing. Record the standard term and any early-exit timing, notice or fee separately.
- Tax: add VAT when the price excludes it. Do not assume a page that is silent includes it.
- People: move to the tier that covers the team members and permissions you need.
- Equipment: add required phones, tablets, probes, hubs, sensors, installation and replacements.
- Change cost: include setup, training, data migration and the staff time needed to run both systems during the switch.
How to make a sensible shortlist
- Write down the records your current food safety system requires.
- Confirm the plan covers your nation, business type and actual procedures.
- Test the busiest shift, not a quiet manager demo.
- Export a sample month and check whether the evidence is clear and complete.
- Ask for the renewal, cancellation, site and user rules in writing.
- Run the same-period cost calculation before comparing monthly headlines.

Where Lemon fits
Lemon costs £19 per location per month, includes unlimited team members and has no long-term contract. The 14-day trial needs no card. It records temperatures, cook, cool, reheat and hot-hold checks, deliveries, checklists and issues, then exports the records as a PDF. It does not write your HACCP plan, manage allergen recipes, provide continuous sensors or offer durable offline recording.
That makes Lemon a fit for a UK kitchen that already has a food safety system and wants a focused way to run and evidence the daily controls. For the trade-offs between paper and software, see our paper diary versus digital food safety app comparison.
